US deports Azerbaijanis and Armenians to Costa Rica

Panorama.am — A group of Azerbaijani nationals has been deported from the United States to Costa Rica as part of a campaign aimed at removing illegal migrants, the Azerbaijani media reported, citing Spanish-language news sources.
According to the reports, nearly 200 migrants have been relocated to Costa Rica. The group includes not only Azerbaijanis but also citizens of Armenia, Turkey, China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, India, Uzbekistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nepal and Vietnam.
16 of the Chinese nationals in the group have reportedly applied for political asylum in Costa Rica. Their applications are currently under review. While awaiting a decision, the applicants are allowed to stay and work in the country temporarily.
Out of the deported individuals, 84 have already returned to their home countries, while 94 remain housed in shelters in Costa Rica.
