US Senator Coons Emphasizes the Future of Turkish-American Relations

US Senator Chris Coons emphasized that Turkish-American relations have a deep historical background and a bright future, stating, “Our century-long deep and meaningful cooperation is intertwined with the business world.”

Coons attended and spoke at the “100 Years of Friendship: Turkey-United States” event in New York, which was also attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan.

Senator Coons stated that the relations between the two countries have a deep historical background and a bright future, saying, “Our century-long deep and meaningful cooperation is intertwined with the business world.”

Coons explained that Turkish businessmen operating in the US have made very important contributions and noted that the NATO Summit held in Ankara played a very important role in the future of the alliance.

The “100 Years of Friendship Gala,” organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-Turkey Business Council (USTBC) in New York and hosted by Council President Hamdi Ulukaya, was attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, and Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.

Also present at the event were Medicare and Medicaid Services Director Mehmet Öz, along with numerous high-ranking guests from the U.S. administration and Congress.
