Women’s success stories: Armenian media breaks stereotypes
Between May and October 2024, four Armenian media organisations successfully completed projects supported by the Council of Europe, to highlight the inspiring success stories of women across the country. These initiatives shed light on women who have defied stereotypes, overcome challenges like displacement, and excelled in traditionally male-dominated fields.
- FemInno produced 10 podcasts featuring women who overcame societal barriers to succeed in unconventional professions, showing resilience and determination. (With an average engagement of 15,000 users per podcast)
- Paradigma published 25 historical posts on the important roles that women have played over time, inspiring today’s women and girls to take on leadership roles. (With an average engagement of 5,600 users per post)
- Boon TV launched 3 social advertisements challenging deep-rooted gender stereotypes, promoting the freedom for individuals to follow their unique paths. (Reaching a total audience of 112,000)
- Shant TV in Gyumri broadcasted 18 TV programmes showcasing local women whose strong will has transformed their lives and contributed to the development of their communities. (With an average engagement of 50,000-100,000 users per TV program)
With sufficient viewership and significant public engagement, the powerful stories resonated deeply, contributing to societal shifts in perceptions of gender roles.
The projects were carried out with the support of the Council of Europe project “Ending violence against women and promoting gender equality in Armenia”.
