ANCA–WR to Honor Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi with Lifetime Achievement Award at 2025 Annual Gala

Los Angeles, CA – The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) announced that Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi will be honored with the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award at its Annual Awards Banquet Gala on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, CA.
Rep. Pelosi is being recognized for her historic leadership as one of the most powerful voices in Congress to champion the Armenian Cause. From her earliest years in office, she worked closely with San Francisco’s Armenian-American community, raising their concerns in Washington and ensuring their priorities were reflected on the national stage. She played a decisive role in advancing multiple Armenian Genocide resolutions, breaking through decades of resistance to secure historic recognition, while also leading efforts to support Armenia’s sovereignty, provide humanitarian aid to the refugees of Artsakh, and hold Azerbaijan accountable for its aggression. Her record stands as one of the most consequential legacies of advocacy for justice and human rights in the Armenian-American story.
Rep. Pelosi’s leadership was on full display in 2022, when she led a historic U.S. Congressional delegation to Armenia following Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia and Artsakh, affirming America’s commitment to Armenia’s sovereignty and security. Pelosi has demanded accountability for Azerbaijani aggression, advocated for humanitarian relief to the 120,000-plus Armenians displaced by Aliyev’s aggression, and underscored the United States’ responsibility to stand with the Armenian nation in the face of Azerbaijan’s crimes and aggression.
As a lifelong representative of San Francisco, Pelosi’s honor also carries special meaning for the city’s Armenian-American community, which has contributed to the cultural and civic fabric of the Bay Area for generations. Though relatively smaller in number, the community’s churches, schools, and cultural institutions continue to play a vital role in preserving heritage and serving Armenian-Americans across Northern California.
“Pelosi embodies the principled and steadfast spirit that defines the Armenian Cause,” said Oshin Harootoonian, Chairman of the ANCA-WR Board. “Her leadership has been a powerful force for justice, remembrance, and solidarity with the Armenian people. We are proud to honor her lifetime of commitment with this award.”
