Armenia Signs NASA’s Artemis Accords For Space Cooperation
HOUSTON—Armenia has become the 43rd nation to sign the Artemis Accords developed by NASA and the U.S. State Department.
They are a set of principles for global cooperation designed to promote safe, transparent and responsible human exploration of the Moon, Mars and other deep-space destinations.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson hosted the signing ceremony hosted at the agency’s Washington headquarters on June 12.
“As the 10th nation this year to sign the Artemis Accords, we are proving that exploration unites nations like few other things can,” Nelson said. “We will continue to expand humanity’s reach in the cosmos together.”
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Armenia’s minister of high-tech industry, noted his country’s involvement “will not only enhance our technological capabilities, but also inspire a new generation of Armenians to dream big, to innovate and to explore the world and universe.”
