Armenian authorities ignore the real problems of the Artsakh people, showing a humiliating attitude
YEREVAN /ARKA/ — The Armenian authorities ignore the real problems and demands of the forcibly displaced Artsakh people, showing a humiliating attitude, believes the head of the “Tatoyan Center for Law and Justice”, former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan.
“People are talked to with threats of using force, instead of responding to their vital needs, including social ones,” Tatoyan wrote on his TG channel.
According to him, supporting the people of Artsakh at the state level is a direct responsibility, and ensuring conditions for their dignified life is a priority and urgent task for Armenia.
“Everything must be done for their full integration and participation in strengthening Armenia, and not to the point that they emigrate,” Tatoyan emphasized.
As the human rights activist noted, the authorities have created conditions that not only do not provide, but also grossly violate the rights to a decent life of our compatriots from Artsakh, forcibly displaced to Armenia.
“As a result of ethnic cleansing, people were deprived of their native land, ancestral homes, shrines, natural environment, and are now subjected to an open campaign of hatred by officials and various people close to them under the patronage of the authorities,” Tatoyan said.
On Saturday, another rally in defense of the rights of the residents of Artsakh took place in Freedom Square, after which several members of the Council for the Protection of the Rights of the Artsakh People announced the start of a sit-in protest, despite the lack of permission from the Police. They call on the Armenian authorities to resolve the socio-economic problems of the Artsakh people, among the 12 points with demands, including stopping the emigration of Artsakh people from Armenia, guaranteeing their right to return to their homeland, launching a fair housing program, achieving the release of captured Armenians from prison in Baku.
Later on Monday, a group of members of the Artsakh Rights Support Council gathered outside the Armenian government building in protest. They had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khacharyan, after which the Council members announced a change in the format of the struggle and reorganization.
On the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijan in Artsakh
On September 19-20, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale aggression against Artsakh using artillery, UAVs and combat aircraft. On September 28, following negotiations with the Azerbaijani side, Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan issued a decree that all state institutions of the republic are dissolved and from January 1, 2024, the Republic of Artsakh ceases to exist.
Residents of Artsakh were forced to leave their homeland and moved to Armenia, about 115 thousand internally displaced Artsakh residents have been registered.
