Armenian church land put up for sale in Turkey

Such an announcement was placed on the website of a real estate agency on February 5, and it was noted that the land occupied by the “Armenian church and priest’s house” is being sold for 2,810,000 liras (about US $77,500).
The church’s area is 904 square meters and there is a certificate of ownership for the building.
A local resident living nearby this Armenian church noted that Armenians used to live there and there was an Armenian church and priest’s house in the aforesaid village. According to the resident, the Armenians left the village about 110 years ago, and after that, a part of the church was turned into a mosque.
“There were ornamentations on the walls of the church, as well as on the walls of the house. Those ornate walls collapsed as a result of the February 2023 earthquake. The owner lived here before the earthquake, but we recently heard that he wants to sell [it],” added the aforementioned local resident.
