Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated during a forum last week that Azerbaijan is concerned about the “Crossroads of Peace” project because this project can bring tens of billions of benefits to Armenia.
“And that fact can potentially bring two concerns to Azerbaijan. First, if Azerbaijan honestly thinks that Armenia has aggressive plans towards Azerbaijan in the strategic perspective, it can create perceptions that those tens of billions of dollars can be used against Azerbaijan.
“But there is also the opposite, that if Azerbaijan has an aggressive intention towards Armenia, it may worry Azerbaijan that those tens of billions of dollars can be used to increase Armenia’s defense capability and Azerbaijan may have problems implementing its aggressive plans towards us.
“I can say that Armenia does not have any aggressive intentions towards Azerbaijan or the countries of the region in general. We recognize the territorial integrity of all our neighbors.
“I would like to say more: Armenia has recorded that we do not pose the problem of returning our occupied territories by military means, because the document we signed with Azerbaijan in the border demarcation process provides all the opportunities for the border demarcation process to take place on a legal basis. They have created all the guarantees, we will continue this course.”
“Azerbaijan wants the roads of Armenia to be usable for it, but at the same time, Armenia will continue to be under blockade. It is an illogical approach, it is not acceptable for Armenia,” said Pashinyan.
He also said: “We are ready to provide a connection between the western regions of Azerbaijan and the autonomous republic of Nakhichevan.”
