“If God is with us, who can be against us?” former clergyman Nikoghos Hovhannisyan said, addressing the campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Hovhannisyan urged everyone to arm themselves with optimism.

“We simply must acknowledge that the Republic of Armenia has been seized by the enemy (as long as they are here, what need have we for an external enemy). They have dismantled and desecrated all national institutions; only the Armenian Apostolic Church remains. And we are fighting from within to preserve it. Arm yourselves with optimism; a struggle lies ahead that may seem impossible yet will be victorious – a battle of nerves. Do not falter, do not waver, do not be disheartened; simply remain vigilant. For if God is with us, who can be against us? For centuries, the Armenian Apostolic Church has protected the Armenian people; now it is the Armenians’ turn to protect their holiest of holies. Clothe yourselves in Christ – the struggle will be fierce,” Nikoghos Hovhannisyan said.
