Jack Hadjinian Launches Campaign for Montebello City Council
Jack Hadjinian on August 28 officially kicked off his campaign for Montebello City Council.
Hadjinian, who served on the City Council for 9 years, brings the experience necessary to navigate the City through difficult times. He also served as Mayor twice, once in 2015 during the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide and a second term in 2019.
While on the City Council, Hadjinian worked closely with law enforcement, created an ambition city wide street paving project, approved the single largest infrastructure project currently under construction at a cost of $220,000,000, and the largest housing project in over 40 years valued over $1,000,000,000.
Hadjinian not only took pride in serving his community, but enjoyed the role as a regional player with leadership positions on several boards and committees—one being Chairman of the Alameda Corridor East-Construction Authority with a budget over a billion dollars building grade separation projects in the San Gabriel Valley, Chairman of the Committee on Homelessness for the Gateway Cities Council of Governments, and Chairman of the Housing and Economic Development Committee for the League of California Cities.
The former Mayor was one of a few elected officials selected to represent the League of California Cities in a long series of hearings to testify in defense of Redevelopment Agencies on behalf of more than 300 municipalities in the State of California. Redevelopment Agencies previously helped fund economic development projects throughout the State mainly for property acquisitions, construction of low to moderate housing projects, and rehabilitate commercial corridors including how the parking structure of the Glendale Galleria was once financed.
Hadjinian stepped down in 2020, and, in less than four years, the City of Montebello has managed to become very unstable, facing several lawsuits, and under an audit by the State Controller’s office.
Hadjinian currently serves as an L.A. County Commissioner on the Drug & Alcohol Commission representing District 1 as an appointee of Supervisor Hilda Solis and a member of the Executive Council of the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America.
