Lawyer warns of possible government attack on Etchmiadzin

Yerevan (panarmenian.am) —Human rights lawyer Ruben Melikyan warns that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government may be preparing an attack on the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

In a social media post on Thursday, Melikyan alleged that an attack on the church headquarters could be imminent, stating that the operation would likely be carried out by law enforcement officers dressed in civilian clothing. He referred to them as individuals “receiving bonuses for political persecution.”

Calling for public vigilance, Melikyan urged Armenians to be prepared for swift action.

“We must be ready to drop everything at any moment and head to the Mother See,” he wrote. “We must protect our sacred values, Armenian identity and God-given right to exist.”
