Over 800 Chinese citizens evacuated from Iran to Armenia

Tehran — More than 800 Chinese nationals have been successfully evacuated from Iran to Armenia, according to the Chinese Embassy in Armenia. The operation comes amid escalating tensions following the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Iran on 13th June.

The Chinese Embassy in Armenia swiftly coordinated with the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the conflict began, requesting expedited border clearance and necessary assistance for Chinese citizens crossing the Agarak border checkpoint. Emergency mechanisms were activated the following day, with Armenia establishing a cross-departmental framework to facilitate the evacuation. Thanks to a visa-free agreement between the two nations, the entry process for Chinese nationals proceeded smoothly.

In recent days, the number of Chinese citizens crossing into Armenia via the Agarak checkpoint has decreased significantly. The embassy has now shifted its focus to providing accommodation and facilitating onward travel for evacuees, ensuring that all follow-up tasks are executed effectively.
