Survey of Istanbul Armenian community

Turkish-Armenian academics published a report titled, “The Vision of the Future of the Turkish-Armenian Society”, based on a survey on the Armenian community of Istanbul.
It was found that 59% of those filling out the questionnaire are women. The average age of the participants is 45,7%. 67% of them are married. The largest Armenian-populated region is Shishli, followed by Bakerkugh and Fatih. 43,9 % of those participating in the survey live in Shishli. 37% are university graduates.
82% of the participants answered the question “Do you know Armenian?” positively, and 18% answered negatively.
75% of the participants live in their own house, and 25% are renters. 17,1% are over 60 years old, and 18,66% are under 18 years old. 53,1% are employees, 11,3% are employers, and 20,2% are retired.
44,3% of the participants consider the use of Armenian important. 29,8% say “partially attach importance”. 42 percent are completely against foreign marriages. 31% are concerned, and 28% consider this phenomenon natural.
64% said that they consider the contribution of Armenian organizations to the Armenian identity is insufficient. Those who attend church every Sunday are 24,3%, and those who attend only on holidays is 39,9%.
Among those following the Armenian media, social networks on the Internet take a leading place. It is followed by “Agos” with 25,7%. The readers of “Marmara” constitute 9,4%, and those of “Jamanag” is 6,9%.
Half of the survey respondents prefer private hospitals. 38% apply to state hospitals, and 12% the Armenian hospital.
In terms of the participation of non-governmental organizations, 43,3% are the alumni who are on the first rank.
