The Valley Economic Alliance Honors Los Angeles City Council President Emeritus Paul Krekorian

Los Angeles — On October 29, 2024, The Valley Economic Alliance’s Awards Recognition Night gathered over 150 community leaders, public officials, corporate executives, small business owners, and Friends of the Alliance to honor Los Angeles City Council President Emeritus Paul Krekorian. Held at the Los Toros Restaurant, the evening celebrated Krekorian’s dedication to the Los Angeles region.

The event featured a lineup of special guest speakers, including Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang, Los Angeles City Councilmember John Lee, Chief Jim McDonnell (Mayor Karen Bass’s LAPD Chief Nominee), and LAFD Operations Valley Bureau Deputy Chief Jaime Moore. Their presence underscored the respect that leaders across the region hold for Krekorian’s work.

The Alliance’s leadership shared messages honoring Krekorian’s service. Alliance Chairman Fred Gaines remarked, “Paul Krekorian is a visionary leader who has shown time and again his dedication to the people of Los Angeles. His commitment to public service has strengthened our community and inspired us all.” This sentiment resonated throughout the evening, with colleagues and supporters recognizing the vital role Krekorian has played in advancing the interests of the San Fernando Valley and its residents.

Alliance President and CEO Sonya Kay Blake added her own words of appreciation, saying, “Council President Emeritus’s leadership is a beacon of dedication to our city. His work has brought lasting change, and his passion for our community is evident in every decision he makes.”

Also in attendance were dignitaries from neighboring cities, including San Fernando Vice Mayor Maria Mendoza, Calabasas Councilmember Ed Albrecht, and Calabasas Councilmember David Shapiro. Representing the County of Los Angeles was Barri Worth Girvan, Director of Constituent Affairs for Supervisor Lindsey Horvath.

“Council President Emeritus Krekorian is a true champion for the Valley, embodying the highest ideals of public leadership. His service and accomplishments have set a powerful example, and his enduring work will continue to shape and strengthen our community for generations to come,” stated Master of Ceremonies and Alliance Vice President of External Affairs Greg Martayan.

Alliance Board Member Nicolas Montaño, the evening’s generous host and owner of Los Toros, spoke of the Alliance’s commitment to celebrating public service and leadership that makes a difference in the lives of Valley residents. He underscored The Alliance’s strong partnership with the Northwest Valley Chamber of Commerce

Additionally, the Board Members of the Southland Regional Association of Realtors were in attendance to honor Krekorian, reflecting the respect and admiration for his work across the community.

The evening concluded with a shared vision and gratitude, as guests mingled, reminisced, and looked toward the future. Attendees left with a reinvigorated sense of purpose and dedication to the Alliance’s mission, inspired by the recognition of a leader who exemplifies the highest standards of public service
