YEREVAN — In 2024, Armenia received $110 million from the total $250 million grant package initially planned under its agreement with USAID, aimed at fostering cooperation with the United States. This information was provided by Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in response to a written inquiry from Sputnik Armenia.

The grant agreement in question was amended in September 2024 through a document signed between Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and USAID Mission Director in Armenia, John Allelo. These changes effectively doubled the allocated funding from $120 million to $250 million, while also expanding the scope of joint programs.

According to the MFA, all foreign aid programs financed by the U.S. State Department and USAID have been frozen, and the ministry currently has no ongoing joint projects with the agency.

“As of 2024, $110 million of the allocated $250 million has been disbursed, with approximately $49 million directed toward ‘promoting democratic transition’,” the MFA clarified.
